02What the module does
Less routine. More value.
Draivix acts as an OAuth2 and OpenID Connect authorization server for its own add-ons, such as the password vault browser extension or the bug-reporting add-on. The add-on signs in without ever seeing the user’s password and receives a time-limited token. Administrators control which add-ons are allowed to gain access.
- The add-on never sees your passwordDraivix acts as an OAuth2 and OpenID Connect authorization server, authenticating users for add-ons. The add-on receives a token, never the user’s password.
- Sign-in protected by PKCEThe add-on signs in using an authorization code with mandatory PKCE—code protection designed for public clients like add-ons. This binds the authorization code directly to the add-on that requested it.
- Time-limited accessAn access token is valid for 60 minutes and a refresh token for 30 days. Add-ons never hold permanent access; token lifetimes cannot be changed in this version.
- The add-on knows who is signed inThe add-on receives user details via OpenID Connect under the openid, profile, and email scopes, allowing it to identify the user without separate login credentials.
- Two ready-to-use add-onsAn administrator can create a client for the password vault browser extension or the bug-reporting add-on. New add-ons are added through a system update rather than in settings.
- Allowed roles per clientFor each client, you track allowed roles and permission scopes. Scopes are currently enforced only by the password vault; other add-ons act with the permissions of the user who granted access.
- Controlled redirect URIsPost-login redirect URIs are managed separately for each add-on, giving the administrator control over where users return after signing in.
- The password vault enforces its scopesThe password vault enforces the vault:read and vault:write scopes, ensuring the browser extension can do only what its scope permits and nothing more.
- Enable or revoke clients anytimeAdministrators control whether a client is active and can revoke it at any time, keeping full control over which add-ons can gain access.
What is currently in progress
- Permission scopes are currently enforced only by the password vault; tokens for other add-ons act with the permissions of the user who granted access.
- Token lifetimes (60 minutes and 30 days) cannot be changed in this version.
- Password vault add-on management is available only on the platform instance.
- New add-ons are added through a new system version rather than in settings.
03How it works
How it works step by step.
What it is for
Add-ons that work with Draivix outside the main application need to authenticate users securely. Draivix acts as an OAuth2 and OpenID Connect authorization server for them. Users sign in to Draivix, and the add-on receives a token rather than a password.
Read in detail
Two add-ons are ready in this version: a browser extension for the password vault and a bug-reporting add-on.
Add-on registration
An administrator opens the add-on administration page and creates a client for it. Each client record stores its name, description, logo, allowed roles, allowed permission scopes, and whether it is active. Post-login redirect URIs are managed separately for each add-on. A client can also be revoked.
Sign-in and tokens
The add-on uses an authorization code flow with PKCE, which is mandatory because add-ons are public clients. An access token is valid for 60 minutes, and a refresh token for 30 days. The default scopes are openid, profile, and email, and the add-on receives user details via OpenID Connect.
Read in detail
The password vault enforces its own vault:read and vault:write scopes, so the browser extension can only perform actions permitted by its scope. The bug-reporting add-on uses the bug-report:write scope.
04What runs automatically
Automations that save time.
Tokens expire automatically
Access tokens expire automatically after 60 minutes and refresh tokens after 30 days, so an add-on never retains access indefinitely.
External integrations
- Password vault in the browserThe password vault browser extension signs in via Draivix and receives a token with vault:read and vault:write scopes. Add-on management is available only on the platform instance.
- Bug reporting via add-onThe bug-reporting add-on signs in via Draivix and uses the bug-report:write scope. The token acts with the permissions of the user who granted access.
05Frequently asked questions
Does Draivix support OAuth2 and OpenID Connect?
Yes, Draivix acts as an OAuth2 and OpenID Connect authorization server for its own add-ons, such as the password vault browser extension.
How long is an add-on token valid?
An access token is valid for 60 minutes and a refresh token for 30 days. These lifetimes cannot be changed in this version.
Is add-on sign-in secure?
Yes. The add-on uses an authorization code flow with mandatory PKCE and never sees the user’s password.
Can I connect my own third-party application via OAuth?
In this version, only Draivix’s own add-ons can be registered, and new add-ons are added in a new system release. For custom integrations, use the REST API with an API key.
