02What the module does
Less routine. More value.
The cart and checkout in Draivix guide customers from adding items through entering their address, shipping and payment all the way to a confirmed order. The order is created in a single transaction directly as a sales order in accounting, and both the customer and the store receive a confirmation email. An online payment gateway is not included out of the box yet; the store offers offline payment methods.
- Shop without creating an accountThrough the public API, the cart works for both anonymous visitors and signed-in customers. Shoppers who do not want to register can still complete their purchase.
- Apply coupons right in the cartCustomers enter discount coupons directly in the cart before heading to checkout. They can redeem promotional discounts on their own without any manual work from your team.
- Step-by-step checkoutIn checkout, the customer fills in addresses, selects shipping and payment, and confirms the order step by step. Every order arrives complete with address, shipping and payment details.
- Invalid addresses stop the orderBefore confirmation, the system validates the address and checks whether items are in stock. If there is an error, it prompts the customer to fix it before the order is ever submitted.
- Shipping on your rulesYou set the pricing type for each shipping method: flat rate, by weight, by zone or by carrier. That lets you tailor shipping options to how you actually dispatch goods.
- Payment filtered by country and amountCheckout only offers a payment method when it matches the customer’s country and the order’s minimum or maximum amount. Customers never see payment options that do not apply to them.
- Offline payments tracked clearlyWhen a customer chooses an offline payment method, a pending payment transaction is created for the order. You can immediately see in the system which orders are still awaiting payment.
- All-or-nothing order creationOrder confirmation runs inside a single database transaction that creates the sales order in accounting. You never end up with a half-saved order in the system.
- No duplicate ordersIf a customer confirms the same cart a second time, the system returns the existing order instead of creating a duplicate. You never have to deal with fulfilling the same purchase twice.
- Guest orders never overwrite existing contactsAn unregistered shopper gets a new contact record at checkout, and their email is never merged into an existing CRM contact. Your customers’ records never get mixed up.
- Order numbers show origin and dateEvery store order receives a number in the format WEB-YYYYMMDD-NNNNN. One look tells you it came from the website and the exact day it was placed.
- Notifications for customer and storeAn order email is sent to the customer (when the shipping address includes an email) and to the store address configured for new orders. If the email fails, it is logged without canceling the order.
- You control cart expirationYou set the cart lifetime in hours—720 by default, within a range of 1 to 8760. The configured expiration time is saved to the cart as soon as it is created.
What is currently in progress
- No online payment gateway is included out of the box; the store offers offline payment methods by default, and a gateway can be added through custom development
- Expired carts are not closed automatically and abandoned carts are not tracked, as there is no scheduled job for them
- Merging an anonymous cart with a customer’s cart after sign-in is not wired up in this edition
03How it works
How it works step by step.
How it works
Visitors add items to the cart either anonymously or as signed-in customers and can apply a coupon. At checkout, they fill in their addresses step by step and choose shipping and payment. Before confirming, the system validates the address and checks stock availability; if anything is wrong, it sends the customer back to fix it.
Read in detail
Cart expiration is configured in hours (720 by default, with a range from 1 to 8760) and is recorded on the cart when it is created.
Shipping and payment
Shipping methods support flat rate, weight-based, zone-based or carrier-based pricing. Checkout only offers a payment method when it matches the customer’s country and the minimum or maximum order amount.
Read in detail
An offline payment creates a pending payment transaction on the order. An online payment gateway can be added as an extension: a developer implements the PaymentGatewayInterface interface and registers it, after which the system also accepts signed gateway callbacks.
Order created in a single transaction
Order confirmation runs inside a single database transaction: it locks the cart, re-validates the data, creates a sales order with line items, addresses and the shipping and payment names, and submits it to the accounting approval workflow. The order is assigned a number in the format WEB-YYYYMMDD-NNNNN, and the cart is marked as converted.
Read in detail
Confirming the same cart a second time does not create a duplicate order—it returns the existing one. A guest customer gets a new contact record; a guest email is never linked to an existing contact in the CRM.
Confirmation for the customer and the store
Once the payment record is created, an email is sent to the customer (if the shipping address includes an email) and to the store address configured for new order notifications. If sending the email fails, the error is logged without canceling the order.
Read in detail
Converting a cart into an order triggers an event that you can hook custom automations into—for example, creating a task for dispatch.
04What runs automatically
Automations that save time.
Completed carts are marked automatically
When a customer confirms an order, the cart status changes from active to converted. That makes it immediately clear that an order has already been created from it.
Orders go straight to approval
As soon as an order is created, it is automatically routed into the sales order approval workflow. Your team processes it the same way as orders from any other channel.
Confirmation sent to both sides
As soon as the payment record is created for an order, an email goes out to both the customer and the store. The customer has their confirmation and your team knows about the new order.
Trigger follow-up tasks from an order
Converting a cart into an order fires an event you can attach your own automation to—for instance, creating a task for the dispatch team.
External integrations
- Custom checkout designThe store front end communicates with the checkout through a public JSON API. Your front end controls the look and feel of the checkout while orders are created directly in Draivix.
- Add an online payment gateway via custom developmentA developer can add an online payment gateway by implementing the PaymentGatewayInterface interface and registering it. The system then also accepts gateway callbacks with a verified signature. The gateway itself is not included out of the box.
05Frequently asked questions
Can the checkout accept online card payments?
No payment gateway is bundled in this edition; the store offers offline payment methods. A gateway can be added through custom development via the PaymentGatewayInterface interface.
Can a duplicate order be created if the customer clicks twice?
No. Confirming the same cart again simply returns the order that was already created.
What happens to an order placed by a guest without registration?
The system creates a new contact record and links the order to it. A guest’s email is never attached to an existing contact in the CRM.
How do I find out about a new order?
You configure a store email address for new order notifications. At the same time, the order appears straight away under sales orders in accounting.
What shipping methods can I set up?
Flat-rate shipping, or shipping calculated by weight, by zone or by carrier.
