02What the module does
Less routine. More value.
This module holds the master data for costing: cost types, overhead types and overhead rates, costing rules with formulas, and bill-of-materials rules by product category. You can attach a costing record with planned and actual amounts to any record. Your company keeps costing inputs in the system instead of spreadsheets, though the system does not run calculations automatically.
- Cost types in a single rate tableMaintain cost types in a shared table with a group and a direct-cost flag. The whole company classifies costing data using the same reference records instead of separate spreadsheets.
- Overheads in a fixed orderManage overhead types in a rate table with a sort order and an active flag. You can easily distinguish inactive types, and your records keep the exact order you set.
- Rates with clear validity periodsTrack overhead rates by year, customer type, and validity period. When rates change, you create a new validity period and always know which rate applied when.
- Costing rules in one placeRecord each costing rule with its model, formula, commission percentage, and validity. Your reference data lives in the system instead of spreadsheets, though formulas are not evaluated automatically.
- Parameters for BOM rulesBill-of-materials rules have typed parameters—fields with a strictly defined value type. This makes rule definitions unambiguous and consistent.
- Rules by product categoryAssign bill-of-materials rules to product categories with inheritance and sort order. You don’t have to configure the rule separately for every subcategory.
- Planned and actual side by sideAttach a costing record to any record—such as a quote or project—with planned and actual amounts, and compare them in a single list.
- Costing with period and lockEach costing record carries a period and a lock field. In the costing list, you can immediately see which period a record belongs to and which ones are locked.
- Rate tables tailored to your businessAll rate tables accept custom fields and form layouts. Add the data your costing requires and arrange forms to match how your team works.
- Bulk import from spreadsheetsPopulate rate tables and costing records in bulk via import. You don’t need to retype existing spreadsheet data row by row.
What is currently in progress
- The system does not evaluate costing rule formulas or create costing records automatically; they are populated manually, by import, or via automation.
- The module has no actions or scheduled jobs and is not connected to production orders, projects, or quotes.
03How it works
How it works step by step.
What the module includes
Cost types have a code, name, group, and a direct-cost flag. Overhead types have a code, name, sort order, and an active flag. An overhead rate links an overhead type and a cost type to a customer type, year, and validity period, and holds the resulting rate.
Read in detail
A costing rule defines a costing model: model code, record type, customer type, department, line code and type, formula, commission percentage, and validity period. Bill-of-materials rules have typed parameters and are assigned to product categories with inheritance, sort order, and an active flag.
This lets you maintain rate tables consistently across the entire company and update them for new validity periods.
Costing record
A costing record attaches to any record, such as a quote or a project. It holds planned and actual amounts, a period, and a lock field. It references a costing rule, a cost type, and optionally a source costing record or order. All rate tables accept custom fields and form layouts.
Read in detail
Because it links to any record, you can track costing records across different document types in a single list and compare planned and actual amounts.
Current scope
This is a data module. The system does not evaluate costing rule formulas or create costing records automatically. You populate them manually, by import, or via an automation rule. Production order costs are calculated in manufacturing: material from the value of actual issues, labor and overhead entered manually, and total cost as their sum.
04Frequently asked questions
Does Draivix calculate costing automatically?
No. The module stores costing rate tables and costing records, but the system does not evaluate formulas. You populate costing records manually, by import, or with an automation rule.
How are production order costs calculated?
In manufacturing: material based on the value of actual issues, labor and overhead entered manually, and total cost as their sum.
What are overhead rates used for?
They store the overhead rate for a combination of overhead type, cost type, customer type, and year with a validity period.
Can costing records be imported?
Yes. Both rate tables and costing records are standard records that can be populated via import.
Can costing rules differ by customer?
Yes. Both costing rules and overhead rates carry a customer type and validity period, and costing rules also include a department.
How are BOM rules assigned to products?
Through product categories. For each assignment, you set inheritance, sort order, and whether it is active.
