02What the module does
Less routine. More value.
PayrollCZ in Draivix calculates Czech monthly wages from gross to net under the Czech Income Taxes Act and social and health insurance regulations. It prepares payslips, closes the payroll period only after validation checks pass, generates XML files for CSSZ (PVPOJ) and statements for Czech health insurance companies, and once approved, hands off posting data to the general ledger. It is built for payroll accountants who want to run Czech payroll directly in their ERP.
- Statutory rates stored as dataThe system stores rates, limits, and minimum and average wages as versioned parameter sets linked to their source. When legislation changes, you import a new set without modifying the calculation logic.
- Calculation only with valid parametersBefore calculating, the system verifies that a valid parameter set exists for the processed period. Without one, the calculation does not run, preventing payroll from using outdated rates.
- From gross pay to net payFrom gross pay, the system calculates net pay: it determines assessment bases including minimums and maximums, tax advances and the basic taxpayer credit. The payroll accountant has everything directly in the ERP.
- Child tax credits includedThe payroll calculation includes both Czech child tax credits and tax bonuses. The payroll accountant does not have to calculate them outside the system.
- Sick pay and garnishments in one runThe calculation also covers statutory wage replacement during sickness and wage deductions including garnishments. The payroll accountant handles them in a single calculation alongside all other components.
- Preview first, save secondBefore saving, you see a calculation preview and a per-employee list of blockers, such as a missing health insurance company. Nothing is saved until the entire period can be calculated.
- Payslips and components for accountingA completed calculation saves draft payslips and wage components classified for accounting. The payroll accountant works with them as native records right inside the system.
- Closing only after checks passA period cannot be closed without approved payslips or while draft absence records remain. You will never close a month with unresolved payroll inputs.
- Authorized person confirms closingAn authorized person approves or rejects a closed payroll period using a button in the application. A person always makes the final decision to complete the closing.
- Payroll handed off for postingOnce approved, the system hands off the posting basis to the general ledger without creating journal entries by itself. The accounts are configurable to match your chart of accounts.
- Files for CSSZ and health insurersThe system generates the PVPOJ XML file for CSSZ and a separate PPPZ XML statement for each health insurance company. You then submit the filings manually via the official portals.
- Documented statutory filingsAfter submitting via the portals, you record the outcome in Draivix—such as filed, accepted or rejected—along with a link to the source. You track the status of all institutional filings in one place.
What is currently in progress
- Gross wages must be entered or imported as payroll components; they are not pulled automatically from attendance, timesheets, or wage allocations.
- Payslips do not have a PDF export and are not visible to employees in self-service; they exist solely as records for the payroll accountant.
- An employee's payroll profile (health insurer, employment type, tax details) is created separately and is not generated from the HR record.
- The system generates files for the CSSZ and Czech health insurance companies but does not submit them directly; filings are submitted via official portals and the outcome is recorded back in the system.
- For payroll tax, only a summary record is created, not an export file.
- Calculation, period closing, and exports are triggered via commands; the web application provides list views, detail views, and closing approval buttons.
- A closed period is not marked as posted; re-closing cancels the approval, and re-approving sends a new posting batch to accounting.
03How it works
How it works step by step.
Statutory parameters as data
Insurance and tax rates, caps, and minimum and average wages are stored as versioned parameter sets with effective dates and a link to the legal source. When Czech law changes or a new year starts, a new parameter set is imported without changing the calculation code. Before running payroll, the system verifies that a valid parameter set exists for the period; without one, the calculation will not run.
Payroll calculation
The calculation takes a draft payroll period, active employee payroll profiles, gross pay components and approved absence records. It determines assessment bases for social and health insurance including minimums and caps, tax advances with statutory rounding, the basic taxpayer credit, child tax credits and tax bonuses, statutory sick pay, and wage deductions including garnishments.
Read in detail
Every step that writes data starts with a preview. If a required detail is missing for an employee—such as their health insurance company—the calculation lists the blocker for that specific employee and saves nothing until the entire period can be calculated cleanly. A completed calculation saves calculation lines, wage components classified for accounting, draft payslips and totals: gross wages, wage replacements, employee and employer insurance contributions, tax, deductions, tax bonuses and net wages.
Period closing and approval
A period cannot be closed if wage components are missing, any amount is negative or in a foreign currency, any employee lacks an approved payslip, or draft absence records remain. Optionally, you can also require prepared statutory exports before closing.
Read in detail
An authorized person approves or rejects the closed period with a button in the application. Once approved, the system hands off the accounting basis to the general ledger module; it does not create journal entries on its own. The default Czech chart of accounts codes are 521000, 524000, 331000, 336000 and 342000, and can be changed in settings.
Statutory filings and reports
The system generates the PVPOJ XML file for CSSZ (requiring the employer’s variable symbol and district social security administration code) and a separate PPPZ XML statement for each Czech health insurance company. For payroll tax and the payment batch, it creates a summary record. Filings are submitted via official government and insurer portals, and you then record the outcome in Draivix—such as filed, accepted or rejected.
Read in detail
The administrator or payroll accountant runs the calculation, period closing and exports using commands with a preview; the application provides lists, detail views and approval buttons.
04What runs automatically
Automations that save time.
Clear payroll period status
When closed, a payroll period moves from draft to closed, and its approval status is tracked as pending, approved, or rejected. You always see exactly where the period stands.
Closing blocks incomplete periods
When you attempt to close a period, the system blocks it if payroll components are missing, any payslip is unapproved, or draft absences remain. Open issues are caught in time.
Approval sends posting data to accounting
Once a closed period is approved, the system sends the posting data to the general ledger. Repeated submissions never create duplicates, so accounting never processes the same batch twice.
No write step without a preview
Every step that writes data runs a preview first and returns blocking codes. Issues are caught before anything changes in the period.
External integrations
- CSSZ filing file readyFor the Czech Social Security Administration (CSSZ), the system generates the PVPOJ XML file for manual submission. You submit the file via the official portal and record the result back in Draivix.
- PPPZ statement for health insurersFor Czech health insurance companies, the system generates the PPPZ statement in XML for manual submission. You submit it via the official portals and record the result back in Draivix.
05Frequently asked questions
Does Draivix calculate net pay under Czech law?
Yes. PayrollCZ calculates net pay from gross pay, including social and health insurance contributions, income tax advances, the basic taxpayer credit, child tax credits, and statutory sick pay.
Does Draivix submit statements directly to the CSSZ and health insurance companies?
No. It generates the PVPOJ XML and PPPZ statements; you submit them via the official portals and record the result in Draivix.
Are gross wages pulled automatically from attendance?
Not in this version. Gross wages are entered or imported as payroll components.
Do employees receive a payslip?
Not yet. Payslips exist as records for the payroll accountant, without PDF export or employee self-service.
How is payroll posted to accounting?
Once a closed period is approved, PayrollCZ passes the posting data to the general ledger module, which creates journal entries on the accounts configured in the module.
What happens when statutory rates or laws change?
A new version of the statutory parameter set is imported with its effective date. The calculation logic itself does not need to be modified.
