02What the module does
Less routine. More value.
A production profile describes how your manufacturing operates: production type, order strategy, planning, material issues, tracking, and quality checks. Profiles are versioned, published with approval, and can be rolled back. Manufacturing uses the profile to know which steps it is allowed to execute—and rejects unsupported procedures instead of leaving them half-done.
- Manufacturing defined by 17 keysA production profile has 17 keys, each with allowed values—such as production type, material issue, or quality control. Your manufacturing mode is governed by your company’s rules, not hardcoded logic.
- Five starter templatesFive templates provide default values for different manufacturing styles, from repetitive batch production to minimal untracked manufacturing. You never have to start from a blank form.
- Every change as a new versionA profile change starts as a draft, moves to publication, and allows rollback to a previous version. You adjust your manufacturing style by publishing a new version, without reinstalling anything.
- Publishing with an audit trailEvery published profile carries a reason for the change and a link to its approval. You can always look back to see why manufacturing rules changed and where the approval is documented.
- Profiles and versions in plain sightIn Profile Studio, administrators see all profiles and their version histories, keeping manufacturing rule management in a single admin view.
- Dry run first, publish secondProfiles can also be published from the command line, which defaults to dry-run mode and shows what would happen—letting administrators verify changes before applying them.
- Profiles per product or orderAssign a profile to a product revision or a production order, while everything else uses the global profile. Set exceptions only where you need them.
- Know what the system truly supportsProfile Studio shows which profile values your installed modules can actually execute. You can immediately see what works in live production and what is only stored in the profile for now.
- Refusal instead of half-done workManufacturing rejects unsupported procedures at execution time and gives the reason. Nothing ever runs halfway or skips a step required by the profile.
- Traceable manufacturing rulesManufacturing saves a snapshot of the active profile with each material requirement, so you can always trace which rules applied at the time.
03How it works
How it works step by step.
What a production profile is
A profile has 17 keys, each with allowed values. The keys define parameters such as production type, order strategy, structure type, planning, scheduling, material issue, production reporting, batch and serial number tracking, quality control, costing, inventory, approval steps, and closing. Five templates offer default value sets: repetitive batch manufacturing, simple blending, make-to-order heavy assembly, regulated manufacturing with batches and serial numbers, and minimal untracked manufacturing.
Read in detail
A profile is a business rule, not application code. Changing your manufacturing style means publishing a new profile version, not a new installation.
Profile Studio and publishing
In Profile Studio, administrators view profiles and their version history. They can create a draft from a template, publish it with a change reason and approval reference, or roll back to a previous version. Once published, a version is immutable. Profiles can also be published from the command line, which runs in dry-run mode by default to show what would happen.

A profile is assigned to a product revision or a production order; all other cases use the global profile. A profile must exist before material is released on a production order, otherwise the system rejects the action.
What the system can execute
Profile Studio shows which profile values the installed modules can actually execute. Today, manufacturing executes the values of the minimal untracked manufacturing template: discrete job shop, make-to-stock, discrete BOM, manual material issue, full-order completion, no batch tracking, and no quality control. Other values can be saved in a profile, but manufacturing will reject them at execution time and state why. A process will never run without a step required by its profile.

Manufacturing saves a snapshot of the active profile with every material requirement, making it possible to audit which rules governed any past run.
04What runs automatically
Automations that save time.
Automatic profile resolution
When you release materials on a production order, manufacturing automatically finds the active profile for the product revision or order—ensuring the process follows the right rules.
Material issue enforces profile values
When issuing stock to manufacturing, the system rejects profile values that no installed module can execute. Stock issues never proceed under rules that cannot be honored.
05Frequently asked questions
What is a production profile in Draivix?
A versioned set of rules with 17 keys that describes your manufacturing style. Manufacturing uses it to know which steps it is allowed to execute.
Do I have to set up a production profile?
Yes, a profile must exist before you can release materials on a production order. The fastest way to create one is from a template.
Can a profile change be rolled back?
Yes. Every publication creates a new version, and you can revert to a previous version in Profile Studio.
What can a profile be assigned to?
To a product revision or a production order. All other cases use the global profile.
Does manufacturing execute every profile value?
No. Today it executes the values of minimal untracked manufacturing. It rejects other values with a stated reason, and Profile Studio displays them as unsupported.
